Wisconsin United Methodist Camps

Camp and retreat ministries in Wisconsin thrive on the strong support of United Methodists throughout the state.

Our four sites (and in the summer, an off-site program) provide over 80 summer camp experiences for children, youth, and adults, as well as year-round user group possibilities. There are many different camps to choose from:  camps for grades 2 through 10, weekend camps, family camps, individual camps, wilderness camps, horseback riding camps, treehouse (!) camps, special needs camps, the list is endless!  Camp brochures are available in our narthex in the Youth Information Folder the clear acrylic folder on the wall near our new fellowship area).  Scholarship Forms are also available.

Many United Methodist churches, family groups, school groups, and others contract directly with the sites for retreat and meeting facilities. Stay for a week, a weekend, or a day and let the camp cook for you!

What a wonderful way to experience God's spirit through the beauty and wonder of creation. In retreat from the hectic schedule of everyday life, a "place set apart" can provide Christian nourishment and challenge for spiritual growth. Come to great places for great experiences!

February 10, 2006

 Hello All –

This letter is being sent to anyone that has expressed interest in joining Still Waters at ASP this year.  Things are moving forward slowly with our group here, but deadlines are fast approaching for us to be able to attend ASP.

Please email me or call me and let me know if you are planning on attending ASP July 29-Aug 5 by Sunday, February 27.  If you could have a check written to Still Waters for $50.00 by March 5, we will be able to get all of the necessary information to ASP on time.   If the $50.00 is the only reason you are hesitant to make your commitment, please talk to me, we will work it out.

Thank you,

Jessica Frederick

We need adults!!!!!!!!!

We are looking for adults that are willing to help out with different youth activities.  If you would be willing to run a youth event, help with a youth event, have a great idea for a program or fundraiser.  We desperately need to have chaperones for ASP.  It will not happen if we do not get a couple more adults.  Please contact Jessica Frederick if you are interested in helping with the youth in any way.

Scheduled youth events

March 5 – Sledding – time and place to be determined.   If we can’t go sledding, then we will have a games afternoon at church.

March 19 -  Roller Skating at Ozaukee Skateland.  Christian Open Skate from 4:30 – 6:30.  Cost: $4.00 admission $1.00 Skate rental.  Bring your family and friends.

 Friends are always welcome!!!

Christian Skate!!!

The youth group will be going to Ozaukee Skateland for their Christian Skate.  The dates and prices are listed under youth events.  This event is for anyone that would like to go.  Skating is a great chance to spend some time with your families and friends,  and a good workout, and you won’t have to worry about the type of the type of music being played.  Hope to see you there!!!!

The Appalachia Service Project is a home repair and home building ministry through which volunteers and staff repair and build homes for low-income families in rural Central Appalachia. Their goal is to make homes warmer, safer and drier, while offering transformational experiences for volunteers and homeowners alike.

2005 marks Still Water’s 6th year of involvement in Appalachia Service Project, and our 8th summer mission trip overall. Each summer, 10 youth and 4 adults give up a week of their summer to travel for two days to sleep on the floor of a gym, work long hours, sometimes get a shower, and eat cafeteria food for 7 days. (Oh yeah and sometimes the coffee is questionable.) But just ask any of the volunteers when they return, and those conditions will be the last thing they speak of. They will start by telling you what a great time they had, the friends they made, the family they worked for, the things they learned, how we stay up past “lights out” just to keep talking, how we go out of our way to do more than necessary to make our families homes better.

ASP 2005*a look back

I know this is late getting out, since we*ve been back from ASP over a month now. But I figure it can be used as recruitment for next summer*s trip, it*s never too soon to start planning! The announcements that you*ve seen around church the past several months have been things the kids came up with, so this time you*re getting an *adult* leader perspective.

I say *adult* because I still feel like one of the kids, 23 really isn*t that old! This was my fifth year on ASP and throughout my experience the adult leaders were always older, rarely ever in their 20s. Back in September when Donna said the ASP information had come I was one of the first in line to say *sign me up to be a leader*. Little did I know Donna was going to pass the entire planning process onto me, on top of my 45 hour a week retail management job. Let me tell you I was not prepared for what lay ahead. Putting together a trip like ASP is definitely an experience, I have a new appreciation for everything Donna did those six years she organized the various mission trips for Still Waters! There are various sayings that were tossed at me throughout the planning process some appropriate for printing and some not so much, but the one that sticks out the most is the one Lee from Severna Park, MD told me during the week she said *Cindy, the key to life is to surround yourself with good men.* She was referring to the male adult leaders she was with who were filling out the paperwork so she could go take a cold shower before dinner, Greg and I were filling ours out at the time. But the saying holds true to everyday life, if you surround yourself with good people things get done.

There were trials and triumphs that week in Kentucky. A triumph that week was when Greg managed to get Alyn and I up on a roof, quite a feat for two people who are both pretty scared of heights. When the sky above the mountains within spitting distance of this family*s home is getting blacker by the minute and there is an exposed roof it*s amazing what God will give you the strength to do. Watching the triumph on the kids* faces when they learned something new or they finally got that nail in straight without smashing their finger (again) or when the kids at the work site pulled them away to play ball or the family shared stories. These are the stories you*ll hear the crews share first. The trials were all around us, the rising temperatures, the close quarters, the poor living conditions, and the storm that knocked out the power which included the A/C where we were staying*but yet these are still the last things we think of to share.

When you see one of the crew members Alyn, April, Kelsey, Collin, Michael, Greg, Frank, Amanda or myself you can ask them what their experience was like and they will do the best they can. The majority of the people that go on ASP have a hard time explaining the impact ASP has made on them, it truly is a life changing experience. I hope you join us next year! Information will be coming out in the next few months so keep your eyes and ears open for murmurs about ASP 2006.

God Bless, Cindy Schneider
