Day 1, Saturday, July 11, 2026
After 19 long hours of travel, we finally made it to Danli! We departed at 1am from Still Waters, making it to Chicago O’Hare with plenty of time to watch the sunrise from our gate before we boarded our first flight. After two flights totaling 5½ hours in the air (with no delays, Yay!), we made it safely to Comayagua International Airport in Honduras.
A hop, skip, and scoop-up of our luggage later, we walked out to be greeted by Evelyn and Nancy. Evelyn was one of our translators last year, and will be acting as the pharmacist on the medical mission side of the trip. Nancy, a new addition to our team of translators this year, will be acting as the dentist on the medical mission side of the trip. Being greeted by both new and familiar faces brought on a mix of emotions: the feeling of returning to family and old friends mixed with an exciting reminder that the ways and rates that God is growing this ministry is yet unknown to us, but fill us with hopeful anticipation.
After another 3+ hours on the road (and the surprise addition of one of our translators mid-journey), we arrived safely at our hotel for the next few days. Through the long hours, God gave us opportunity after opportunity to spread his love to others, to be his hands and feet in motion for those in need, and to give grace to ourselves, those traveling with us, and complete strangers alike. We made it, and we are excited for what God has in store for us tomorrow… after a nice, big siesta.
