Day 3, Monday, July 13, 2026

Medical

The first full day of the medical mission was a wonderful success. The team met and treated around 75 patients today. The Medical Clinic was located in Central United Methodist Church in Danli, which was filled this day with amazing stories…  There were people full of strength - a woman who came in with back pain from carrying her immobile husband everywhere.  There were people full of gratitude - many of the patients returned after their visits with small gifts to thank our medical team for their work there.  There were people full of compassion - Sarah and the dentist served 9 patients, one of which needed both front teeth removed. Sarah, the dentist, and the patient all prayed before the procedure for strength for the patient and steady hands for the dentist, and the procedure went very well.

Education

"Visiting Central UMC Daughter Church, where VBS will take place."

God was with the education team today as they pivoted their plan for VBS. The circumstances of the community that they served last year changed recently, and the team went to last year’s site to pray for the people of that community, as they were facing significant challenges. The team will now be sharing VBS at one of Danli Central’s four daughter churches. How exciting that we are expanding our reach through a daughter church of our partner church!  The team went to acquaint themselves with the new space, and they were joined by a few members of the church in prayer over the space. The team also began work on the mural in one of Central UMC’s classrooms. Created by our very own Michelle Markuson, the team was able to create an outline of the finished product and will commence painting tomorrow. (If you zoom in on the one picture with 4 of our team standing there, you will see the pencil sketching where paint will be applied tomorrow!)

God-filled Teamwork

It has been amazing and surreal to see how well the teams are working together so quickly. Across the board, the big team have been grateful for the collaboration: Debi and Honduran medical student, Natalia; the partnership between the members of Danli Central and our volunteer team; the translators and volunteers on both sides. They’ve all been fabulous, and we’re all excited to see how these relationships will grow in the coming days and years to come because we know that God grows good things.
